Charism

The charism of the Our Lady of Fatima Sisters is rooted in bringing Christ’s love and mercy into the world through a life of faith, simplicity, and service. Inspired by the Gospel and the message of Our Lady of Fatima, they commit themselves to evangelize people in ways that are deeply rooted in both Gospel values and the cultures in which they serve. Their mission emphasizes holistic evangelization, integrating prayer, pastoral care, education, healthcare, and socio‑pastoral outreach, always responding with generosity and simplicity to the needs of the children of God.

Short History

The Our Lady of Fatima Sisters were founded on 13 January 1965 by Bishop John Reddington, SMA, the first Bishop of Jos, Nigeria. From their beginnings in Shendam, they moved to Jos in 1968 where their first professed convent was established. Since then, the congregation has grown to serve in multiple states across Nigeria and into neighboring Ghana, responding to the spiritual and material needs of local communities. Guided by their founder’s vision, they have built up institutions that support evangelization as well as education, healthcare, and community development.
