Charism

The charism of the Daughters of St. Paul is to live Christ and communicate Him to the world especially through modern means of social communication. This charism flows from their deep desire to proclaim the Gospel in ways that resonate with today’s culture—through books, radio, internet, social media, video, and other communications tools. Their life is dedicated to prayer, community, and active mission, bringing the message of Christ to all people in the spirit of St. Paul and under the guidance of Mary, Queen of Apostles

Short History

The Daughters of St. Paul were founded on 15 June 1915 in Alba, Italy by Blessed James Alberione, with Venerable Mother Thecla Merlo. In the beginning, they began as a small group of women who worked with printing presses and media, sensing the need for evangelization through contemporary means. Over the years, the congregation grew rapidly, receiving canonical approval and expanding globally. Today the sisters serve in more than 50 countries, running Pauline bookstores and media centers, publishing houses, and media education initiatives. Their mission continues to adapt to changing communications while remaining rooted in the Gospel.
