Charism

Their charism is the extension of the Kingdom of Love of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This means living and proclaiming Christ’s compassionate love in the world through prayer, reparation, and works of mercy. They are called to be witnesses of Christ’s love by deepening devotion to the Sacred Heart and making that love visible through contemplative prayer united with active service — in education, parish ministry, care of the needy, and spiritual outreach. Their spirituality emphasizes Eucharistic prayer, reparation for sins, and compassionate outreach to those most in need.

Short History

The Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus were founded on 15 April 1894 in Kraków, Poland, by St. Joseph Sebastian Pelczar, Bishop of Przemyśl, together with Blessed Klara Ludwika Szczęsna. From the beginning, the community was dedicated to spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart and serving the spiritual and material needs of the poor, youth, and families. The congregation grew internationally, with houses now in Europe, the United States, South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Ukraine. Their life remains anchored in prayer, reparation, and apostolic service animated by Franciscan simplicity and devotion to the Heart of Jesus.
