The charism of the Order of the Holy Cross, also known as the Crosiers, is to live a religious life in community of prayer, celebration of the Sacred Liturgy, contemplation, and apostolic ministry, centered on the Crucified and Eucharistic Lord with a special devotion to Mary and the Holy Angels. Members — priests and brothers — dedicate themselves to preaching, retreats, retreats of recollection, and spiritual guidance, fostering communal life marked by Eucharistic adoration, Marian devotion, and solidarity with the Church’s mission in service and pastoral care.
The Canons Regular of the Order of the Holy Cross were founded in 1211 in Europe as a community of canons regular committed to the Rule of St. Augustine and the preaching of the Gospel in communion with the Cross of Christ. Over the centuries they spread across several countries, combining contemplative life with active apostolic ministry. The order — one of the Church’s ancient institutes of consecrated life — maintains houses in several nations and engages in spiritual ministry, retreats, and parochial work, living out their vocation through a rhythm of prayer, community life, study, and service.
