The Missionaries of Divine Mercy (M.D.M.) are a Catholic religious congregation of priests and brothers devoted to living out and proclaiming the message of God’s Divine Mercy — especially through preaching the Gospel, pastoral work, and the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Their spirituality emphasizes trust in God’s mercy, reconciliation, forgiveness in the sacrament of penance, Eucharistic devotion, and compassionate outreach to the poor and wounded in body or spirit. Members seek to manifest God’s mercy in real and practical ways, drawing people into deeper faith and encouraging them to encounter Christ the Divine Mercy Incarnate.
The Congregation of Missionaries of Divine Mercy was founded on 1 September 2002 in Minna, Nigeria, by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Martin Igwemezie Uzoukwu, Catholic Bishop of Minna. It began with a small group of aspirants and has grown into a community of priests, seminarians, and brothers dedicated to proclaiming Divine Mercy through pastoral ministries, education, social outreach, and evangelization in line with their charism. The M.D.M. live by the Evangelical Counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience and strive to be instruments of Christ’s saving plan through mercy in the world.
