To live and proclaim the charity of Divine Providence through service to the poor, the disadvantaged, the elderly, children, and those on the margins, embodying the motto of the founder: “Do good to all, always do good, never do harm to anyone,” and to serve with compassionate pastoral ministry and social outreach.
The Sons of Divine Providence were founded in 1903 in Turin, Italy, by Saint Luigi Orione (1872–1940), who began his ministry caring for orphans, street children, and the poor, later establishing the Little Work of Divine Providence to extend charitable outreach. From its beginnings, the congregation combined priestly and brotherly life with works of mercy, education, healthcare, and social support, inspired by faith in God’s providential care.
The congregation rapidly grew and expanded its mission internationally, establishing communities and apostolates across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Today the Sons of Divine Providence are active in over 30 countries, working in parishes, schools, care centers, social services, and migrant support, continuing the spirit of Don Orione’s dedication to evangelization and charity.
