Charism

The Ursuline Franciscan Congregation is called to live and share the Gospel through education, prayer, and service to the poor and marginalized, following the contemplative and apostolic spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Angela Merici. Their charism emphasizes holistic formation, compassion, and promoting dignity and justice in society.

Short History

The Ursuline Franciscan Congregation traces its roots to the union of the Ursuline tradition of education and the Franciscan spirit of poverty and humility. Inspired by St. Angela Merici’s dedication to the education of girls and young women and St. Francis’ radical commitment to simplicity and service, the congregation emerged to combine spiritual depth with practical outreach in communities. Members dedicate themselves to schooling, social work, and pastoral care, striving to bring the Gospel to life through action.
From its early foundation, the congregation focused on establishing schools, orphanages, and community programs in various regions. Over time, the Ursuline Franciscans expanded internationally, adapting their ministries to meet local needs while retaining a strong emphasis on prayer, community life, and service to those most in need. Today, they continue to form educators, promote faith-based values, and witness to the Gospel through lives of humility, love, and dedication.
