Dar al-Mustafa is deeply focused on spiritual purification (tazkiyah) and contemplative Sufi practices. Its mission is to train students in the holistic development of faith, character, and spiritual awareness. The institute emphasizes studying the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical Islamic sciences, while integrating practices like dhikr (remembrance of God), meditation, and ethical self-discipline. The aim is to cultivate individuals who embody both knowledge and spiritual refinement, capable of guiding others in their religious and personal lives.
Founded in Tarim, Hadhramaut, Yemen, by Habib Umar bin Hafiz, Dar al-Mustafa has grown into a globally recognized center for Sufi-oriented Islamic education. From its early days as a small seminary, it attracted students from around the world who sought deep spiritual training alongside rigorous Islamic scholarship.
