Main Stream: Salvatorians
The charism of the Society of the Divine Savior is to proclaim the goodness and kindness of Jesus Christ, the Divine Savior, to all people everywhere. This mission flows from the call to share the Gospel through all ways and means inspired by the love of Christ — by word and example, in education, parish ministry, social outreach, media, and other apostolic works. The Salvatorian spirituality emphasizes a universal approach to mission, inviting collaboration with laity and other members of the Salvatorian Family to bring people to a deeper knowledge and love of Christ.
The Society of the Divine Savior was founded on 8 December 1881 in Rome, Italy, by Blessed Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan, who envisioned a religious community dedicated to proclaiming Christ as Savior to the world. The institute was originally known as the Apostolic Teaching Society and later received its current name. After receiving ecclesiastical approval, the Salvatorians grew into an international congregation, establishing communities in many countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Over time, they expanded their apostolic work into education, parish ministry, media, health services, and social outreach, responding to the needs of the Church and the world with missionary zeal.
