Charism

The charism of the Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception (C.F.I.C.) is rooted in charity and compassionate service, striving to manifest the love of Christ through care for the sick, education of underprivileged youth, and assistance to the abandoned and marginalized. Inspired by Blessed Luigi Maria Monti, the congregation carries out its missionary life by serving where human need is greatest, combining pastoral care with medical, educational, and social outreach in community centers, hospitals, schools, and shelters. The members — priests and brothers — live in community and dedicate themselves to promoting the dignity of every human person, especially those suffering from poverty, illness, and abandonment, through witness, service, and solidarity with the least of society.

Short History

The Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception was founded on 8 September 1857 in Rome, Italy, by Blessed Luigi Maria Monti, who originally gathered young companions to serve the sick and needy in the Holy Spirit Hospital and later formalized the community as a religious congregation of pontifical right. Under the patronage of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, the congregation expanded from its origins in Rome and Italy into many countries, growing into a global missionary presence. Today the CFIC serves in approximately 27 countries worldwide, carrying out medical care, education, pastoral ministry, and social services as part of its ongoing mission to live out the Gospel through charity — and this presence includes works in several African nations such as Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, and possibly more regions in the continent.
