Main Stream: Daughters of Mary
The charism of the Daughters of Mary is rooted in love and service to God through outward expressions of compassion and care for the poor, vulnerable, and rural communities. They dedicate themselves to education, healthcare, pastoral ministry, social work, and the development of women, children, and youth, especially in areas where people face poverty, isolation, and lack of basic services
The Daughters of Mary – Tabora were founded in 1933 in Tanzania by the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) in response to the pressing social, economic, and spiritual needs of the local people. From their beginnings, the Sisters committed themselves to missionary service by engaging in ministries such as health care, education, pastoral ministry, social work, and the development of women and children, with a particular focus on rural and marginalized communities. Over the decades, the congregation grew, expanded into eight dioceses throughout Tanzania, and became an important indigenous religious community contributing significantly to Church life and evangelization in the country.
