Charism

The Franciscan Sisters of the Reign of Jesus Christ are called to live the Franciscan way of life according to the Gospel of Jesus, following the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi by serving Christ in the poor, the sick, and the marginalized. Their charism focuses on Franciscan simplicity, humility, community life, prayer, evangelization, education, social outreach, and care for those in need in the Church and society.

Short History

The Franciscan Sisters of the Reign of Jesus Christ were founded with Franciscan inspiration rooted in the Gospel of St. Francis of Assisi and eventually spread into East Africa with communities in Uganda and Tanzania. They came to Mbarara from Rwanda in 2015 and since then have been involved in education, pastoral care, service to orphans, and care for the vulnerable members of society according to their Franciscan vocation. The congregation has grown steadily with multiple sisters professed in solemn and simple vows, and continues to witness Christian love and service in local dioceses of East Africa.
