Main Stream: Franciscans
The charism of the LSOF (Dada Wadogo Dar es Salaam) is rooted in humility and service, following the example of Jesus Christ washing the disciples’ feet (John 13:14). They commit to evangelization through actions of love — especially by:
Education at different levels (childhood, primary, secondary); Montessori pedagogy and teacher training; Healthcare and responsive social services; Youth and community outreach; Fostering inter‑religious harmony, including in predominantly Muslim contexts; Living Gospel values of compassion, humility, and service in daily life
Their ministries reflect a Franciscan spirit of simplicity and joyful service to the poorest and most vulnerable.
The Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi (LSOF) – Dada Wadogo in Dar es Salaam are part of a Tanzanian religious congregation inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, focused on evangelization and service. The Dada Wadogo Sisters trace their local foundation back to the 1980s, when they grew out of the missionary efforts of Swiss Baldegger Sisters who had worked in Tanzania since the 1920s.
Based in Dar es Salaam, the sisters have developed ministries especially in education, health, and social outreach — running primary and secondary schools, Montessori kindergartens, and a Montessori teacher‑training centre that offers internationally‑certified AMI courses. In recent years they’ve also begun courses for care‑givers (nannies) and expanded their outreach to children, youth, and women.
